AWSN To Air Live Women’s Boxing From Mike Tyson Invitational This Saturday

0 1

All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) announced today that it will air a special women’s boxing showcase program, headlined by a live televised bout featuring decorated, eight-time amateur national champion and two-time international champion, Alexis Tangaro (16-1, 1 KO), on Saturday, March 14 at 9:15 p.m. ET/6:15 p.m. PT.

The 90-minute broadcast will see the 18-year-old Tangaro of Waianae, Hawaii square off with Mandy Hernandez (2-6) of Nampa, Idaho in a three-round, 119-pound limit contest that is slated to be Tangaro’s final amateur fight before she turns professional.

Tangaro and Hernandez will face off in the sole women’s bout that will take place on the much-anticipated, inaugural Mike Tyson Invitational event designed to nurture young amateur fighters and provide them with a pathway to succeed and take their respective careers to the next level.

Saturday’s live broadcast of the matchup between Tangaro and Hernandez will be both preceded by and followed by highlights from the Manny Pacquiao Promotions women’s fights that AWSN aired on February 28.

The two-hour show on February 28 marked AWSN’s first-ever live broadcast of women’s boxing and set an all-new record – over 1.2 million minutes streamed – for a single program on the television network that is the brainchild of Whoopi Goldberg.

The live broadcast on February 28 featured another Hawaiian star in 23-year-old undefeated professional Shera Mae Patricio (8-0-0, 3 KO’s) who defeated former world champion, Maribel Ramirez (15-13-4, 3 KO’s) in an exciting, fast-paced, super flyweight (115 pounds) contest.
