Rubio Rallies to defeat Palma In Barn Burner

In a fast-paced featherweight contest between two undefeated boxers, Pablo Rubio recovered from a brace of third round knockdowns to outwork Adan Palma down the stretch and secure a unanimous decision victory. Rubio, 29, went down from a left hook, then again from a right hand. It looked like the writing was on the wall, but Rubio never gave up the fight. He continued to stalk the shorter Palma, applying pressure for the rest of the fight. The seventh round featured great two-way action and going into the eighth and final round, Palma’s corner told him he needed to either dominate or knock out Rubio to claim the win. In the end, the 24-year-old could do neither. He went down by scores of 77-73 twice and 76-74. With the win Rubio moves to 15-0, 5 KOs, while Palma drops to 14-1, 9 KOs.
