Nystedt Wins Finnish Super Middleweight Title
By Pasi Taavitsainen
A high-level and exciting Finnish Championship bout between Anton Embulaev and Nikita Nystedt in the super middleweight division was seen in Helsinki.
The quick-moving Anton Embulaev controlled the early stages of the fight with a sharp jab and fast footwork. As the bout progressed, however, Embulaev’s movement began to fade. His activity dropped, he became more passive, and he was drawn into close-range exchanges.
For several rounds his punch output decreased significantly and his movement nearly stopped altogether. In close range, Nystedt was in his element and ultimately secured the victory by points.
The win came by split decision: 97-94 Embulaev, while Nystedt nicked it at 96-94 and 96-95. Nystedt improves to 5-0, 4 KOs, while Embulaev loses his first at 10-1, 2 KOs.
