Ten years. Three fighters. One of the most honest films about professional boxing ever made.
Directed by Francesco Saviano and executive produced by actor Vincent Piazza, ON THE LINE isn’t the boxing story you’ve seen before. There are no million-dollar purses, no Vegas spectacle, no highlight-reel knockouts. Instead, Saviano spent a decade embedded with three New York City fighters, Will ‘Power’ Rosinsky, Danny ‘The Miracle Man’ Jacobs, and Patrick ‘All’ Day, documenting what it actually costs a human being to chase a world championship.
Jacobs and Day in particular have stories that demand to be told on this scale. The film captures both men at their most vulnerable and their most triumphant, and the friendship between all three fighters gives the documentary an emotional throughline that most sports films can’t manufacture, let alone capture authentically over ten years of real access.
The US premiere is happening March 19 at Pérez Art Museum Miami, as part of the largest museum exhibition about contemporary art and sports in American history. The opening weekend program, fittingly titled GAME TIME, brings together an extraordinary cross-section of people: Desmond Howard, New Yorker staff writer Kelefa Sanneh, Smithsonian sports curator Dr. Damion Thomas, and others.
It’s set to be a genuine cultural moment, not just a film screening.
