Xhoxhaj Retains EBU/WBC International Silver Titles
By Per-Åke Persson
EBU and WBC International Silver heavyweight champion Labinot Xhoxhaj (22-0-1) retained the title by knocking out Swedish challenger Pezhman Seifkhani (18-2) in the fourth round. The time was 3:00. Seifkahni was under pressure the whole round and was finally floored by a big right hand. He got up and looked alright but the champion opened up with all he had – and it was a lot – and finally connected with another right and it was ten out for the Swede, who had performed well and had his moments in the second round but overall the German-Albanian was too strong in his primitive but effective style of fight. After three it was scored 29-28 twice and 30-27 – all in favor of Xhoxhaj.
Welterweight Eris Bajra 10-1) knocked out late sub Flecher Silva (19-6) from Venezuela 1.58 of the first Round. Silva was down twice and showed poor punch resistance.
Light heavy Ervin Sope turned pro with an easy tko win over much smaller Georgian Tristan Khizanishvili (3-18-6).
Middleweight Vadim Gashi (5-1) got an easy win when Georgian Pasta Aduashvili (32-28-2) didn’t come out for the third of a scheduled four rounder. No reason was given for the retirement.
Light heavy Patrick Rokohl (30-5) won on a tko early in the fourth and final round when his opponent, Jackie Mefire (11-41-1) went down for the third time in the fight.
Super welter Melin Kalayci (2-0) stopped Georgian soft touch Bato Berkatashvili (12-23) at 1.20 of the third round. Berkatashvili took a knee earlier in the round and then Hurt his arm and it was stopped.
Romanian spoiler Octavian Gratii (8-97-4) took a count in the third but other than that he had no problems lasting the distance – four rounds – against Alaxander Kallashi (13-4) and lost a unanimous decision. The fight was made at middleweight.
Cruiserweight Samuel Douro Mensah (2-0) stopped Georgian journeyman Beka Aduashvili (18-38-3) at 46 seconds of the second round. Aduashvili, far from top shape, went down due to body shots and it was stopped.
