Embattled WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman took time out of his heavy interview schedule to speak with Fightnews.com® about recent developments regarding the stripping WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson after his refusal to pay $120,000 for his participation in a bout for the WBO super lightweight title against champion Teofimo Lopez. Sulaiman explains the whys and wherefores of the Council’s actions with Stevenson, the elevation of Christian Mbilli to full WBC champion at super middleweight, as well as the situation with WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez moving up to challenge WBO/WBA cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, in a similar situation to Shakur’s.
