Big German Fight Weekend
By Per-Åke Persson
The glory days from the days of German boxing may be gone but there is still plenty of action and it all goes ahead on Saturday (Feb 14).
In Halle / Westfalen former WBO cruiser king Marco Huck (43-5-1) begins another comeback and meets Czech cruiser champ Vaclav Pejsar (26-22), a decent veteran but if Huck is anywhere near what he used to be he will win easily but the now 41-year has had a lot of problems with injuries over last few years.
Super middle Mario Jassmann goes for win # 34 at home in Korbach where he squares off against Christian Vaduva (6-4). Jassmann has been a pro fighter for over ten years now and is ranked number 16 by the EBU. His record, 33-0, is not completely built on fighting bums but he has never fought any of the bigger names in Europe.
On the undercard Agon Sports have two of their prospects in action and that is middleweight Malek Semmo (3-0) and light heavyweight Assan Hansen (2-0).
In the small city of Lahr EBU heavyweight champion Labinot Xhoxhaj (21-0-1) defends the title against Swede Pezhman Seifkhani (18-1). It’s a big fight for both. Should Xhoxhaj win a showdown against compatriot Agit Kabayel seems like a natural while Seifkahni has some opponents in Scandinavia to fight like Dane Kem Ljungquist.
In Heidelberg heavyweight Alexander Frank (25-0-1) is in against Venezuelan Luis Jose Marin Garcia (17-11-1). Frank has over the years won some of the more obscure (UBO, WBU, WBCA) titles out there but not beaten any big “names.”
