Double Start To The Year For AGON Talents Semmo And Hansen In Korbach
This coming Saturday, two promising young boxers from AGON Sports will step into the ring in Korbach: Assan Hansen (super lightweight) and Malek Semmo (middleweight). It will be Hansen’s third professional fight and Semmo’s fourth, marking the start of the new boxing year for both. The event is being organized by PSP Boxing, led by promoter Enrico Schütze, in cooperation with Hartmut Berge. The main event of the evening features local favorite Mario Jassmann, and the two AGON talents will be looking to further showcase their skills on the undercard.
Three fights, three wins: Malek Semmo’s (21) start to his professional career has been flawless. The middleweight is understandably pleased with his progress so far: “Three professional fights, three wins. The start has been exactly as I imagined it. I’ve learned to box patiently, apply pressure, and consistently execute my style. The new year is the next logical step forward for me.”
Middleweight is traditionally one of the most physically demanding weight classes. Semmo sees his strengths as clearly defined: “Physicality, speed, and punching power are my greatest strengths. At the same time, I’m working intensively on defense, timing, and efficiency to further refine my profile.” His fourth professional fight is intended to confirm the chosen path – without haste, but with clear focus. “I’m approaching the build-up with focus and without rushing. The long road is part of it, and AGON Sports is exactly the right partner for that. I know that I’ll get the time and structure there to develop sustainably.”
For Semmo, the goal in Korbach is to extend his flawless record and further solidify his development – both technically and mentally.
Assan Hansen (26) is also starting the new year with momentum. The super lightweight boxer rates his development as a professional very positively, especially since working with coach Franquis Aldama: “I would consider my development as a professional to be very good. I’ve made good progress, also thanks to the support of Coach Franquis Aldama. I always lacked a coach who was a good fit for me. With Franquis, I’ve found someone. We do have a language barrier, but we still understand each other and get along great.”
In Korbach, Hansen not only wants to win, but above all to put the new techniques into practice under competitive conditions: “My goal is to gain experience and implement the new techniques I’ve learned from the coach in a fight.” The ambitious super lightweight is already thinking ahead: “I hope to have six or seven fights under my belt by the end of the year and would also like to fight at the AGON events abroad to gain international experience as a professional. I’ve already gained that experience as an amateur.”
For both athletes, Korbach is more than just another fight. It’s the start of a year that should bring the next step in their development. With structured development work, targeted training, and growing fight experience, Semmo and Hansen aim to further refine their profiles.
