Christian “Chispa” Medina Made the first defense of his WBO bantamweight against former IBF light flyweight champ Adrian Curial on home soil in Guadalajara, Mexico last night. It was a hard fought battle for both men, but the naturally bigger Medina had more in the tank throughout the fight, utilizing lefts to the body and simply outworking Curial, who for his part, did his best to give as good as he got. In the end, the judges were a bit disparate, albeit unanimous in their scoring: 120-108, 116-112 and 115-113, all for Medina, who moves to 27-4, 19 KOs, while Curiel drops to 26-7-1, 5 KOs.
