Figueroa Stops Ball In The Final Round To Win WBA Featherweight Title

Underdog Brandon Figueroa shocked the local fans by stopping defending champion Nick Ball in the final round to win the WBA featherweight title tonight in Liverpool, England.

It was a back and forth fight which was not easy to score as each man did their work. Jabs, hooks, uppercuts and crosses were landed by both men.

Seconds into the 12th and final round, Figueroa landed a pulverizing left hook that dropped Ball flat on his face. It looked as though ball was down for the count but he got up on sheer guts alone, only to be knocked halfway through the ropes as his upper body hung on the outer ring apron. Referee Steve Gray stopped the bout at 0:32 of the final round, crowning Figueroa as the new champ.
