Unal Stops Zogaj In Montréal
Eye of the Tiger presented the very first gala of its 2026 season this Thursday, in a sold-out event featuring six bouts at the Casino de Montréal.

Main event: Montreal’s Mehmet Unal (15-0, 13 KOs) earned a 9th-round knockout victory over Germany’s Altin Zogaj (17-1, 9 KOs). Trained by Marc Ramsay, Unal successfully defended his WBC Continental title and also captured the WBA Continental light heavyweight title (175 lb). He is currently ranked No. 9 in the world by the WBC.
Co-main event: Two-time Belarusian Olympian Dzmitry Asanau (12-0, 6 KOs), trained in Montreal by Samuel Décarie-Drolet, won by corner stoppage after 7 rounds of action against Spanish champion Carlos Ramos (18-4-1, 10 KOs). Asanau defended his WBC Continental lightweight title (135 lb). He is ranked No. 4 by the WBC and No. 11 by the IBF.
The pride of Thetford Mines, now residing in Candiac, Thomas Chabot (12-1, 8 KOs) secured a split decision victory (100-90, 99-91, 94-96) against hard-hitting New Brunswicker Dominic Babineau (13-3-1, 11 KOs). A two-time Canadian amateur champion, Chabot was competing in his first scheduled 10-round bout and made his featherweight debut (126 lb) after spending most of his career in the division above.
Canadian Olympic medalist from the Paris 2024 Games, Wyatt Sanford (6-0, 2 KOs), impressed with a six-round unanimous decision (60-54, 60-54, 60-54) over Argentine brawler Alexis Gabriel Camejo (10-6-1, 1 KO). The Kennetcook, Nova Scotia native, who competes at lightweight, earned his sixth win in less than a year after making his professional debut in May 2024.
Montreal’s Keven Beausejour (2-0, 2 KOs) became the first fighter to stop tough Czech boxer Petr Strnad (4-4-2, 2 KOs), scoring a 2nd-round knockout. The light heavyweight prospect was making his local debut, having won his first professional bout in Mexico last December.
In the opening bout at super welterweight, Longueuil’s Dante Tice Oliveira (2-0, 1 KO) recorded the first knockout of his career by stopping veteran Argentine Gonzalo Manriquez (6-8-1) in the 4th and last round.
