Troy Willamson Relnquishes EBU Title- Navarro Jr Vs Dibombe For The Vacant Title
By Per-Åke Persson
Englishman Troy Williamson (22-4-1) has relinquished the EBU super middleweight title two days ahead of the scheduled purse bids for the mandatory defence against mandatory challenger Jose Luis Navarro Jr (17-2).
The EBU has acted swiftly and Frenchman Pierre Hubert Dibombe (24-2-1) has accepted the nomination as co-challenger for the now vacant title. Dibombe is ranked number seven in the latest EBU ratings.
Deadline for the purse bids has been set for February 12.
As for Troy Williamson, who has been training in Denmark recently sparring with WBO Global champ Jacob Bank, a lucrative rematch against Callum Simpson, whom he beat when he won the EBU, British and Commonwealth titles appears to be next.
