William Scull: Back To The Top Of The World With A New Coach
AGON Sports is sending its former world champion William Scull back to the international title stage. This coming Saturday, January 31, the Cuban-born boxer will face undefeated local favorite Jacob Bank (17 wins) at the Sydbank Arena in Kolding, Denmark. On the line is the WBO Global Super Middleweight title, which Bank is defending against Scull.
For Scull (23 wins, one loss), the fight is a crucial step on his road back to the top. Just a few months ago, the AGON fighter was in the spotlight in Riyadh, where he battled Canelo Alvarez for all four world championship belts, losing his IBF title in the process. The upcoming fight in Denmark now offers him the chance to win a title and put himself back in direct contention for a world championship.
In preparation, Scull deliberately introduced new elements. He has a new trainer, Ernesto Aroche, also Cuban, who brought fresh perspectives to the preseason. Furthermore, Scull completed an intensive sparring phase with top-class partners, including stablemate Malek Semmo, as well as Hamza Salahudin, Luka Plantic, Serhat Parlak, and Serkay Comert – a selection that guaranteed both pace and tactical flexibility at the highest level.
Team manager Björn Schicke is correspondingly confident: “William had a very strong preparation with absolute top boxers who consistently challenged him. Jacob Bank will not have an easy time against our former champion. William is the more experienced man, boxes very intelligently, and possesses exceptional ring intelligence. He is ready to win the title in Denmark.”
A victory over the WBO Global Champion would once again underline AGON Sports that William Scull continues to be one of the defining international players in the super middleweight division and that his next attempt at the world championship is only a matter of time.
