Formerly four-division champ, legendary Japanese veteran WBA#9 Kazuto Ioka (32-4-1, 17 KOs), 118, impressively scored a clearcut knockout victory over Venezuelan #9 Maikel Ordosgoitti (15-2, 14 KOs), 117.5, dropping him twice and for the count at 2:42 of the fourth round in a scheduled ten at Ota City General Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan. Ioka, 36, recently moved up to the bantam category and thus acquired the right to have a mandatory shot at the WBA ruler. The crafty counterpuncher had Maikel on the deck with a vicious body shot in round two, and then his lethal body bombardment decked him in agony again to have him unable to beat the count. It was Ioka’s thirteenth appearance on the New Year’s Eve.

After his important victory Ioka jubilantly said in the ring, “I strongly wish to fight WBC bantam champion Takuma Inoue (who was in attendance) on the undercard of the forthcoming Naoya Inoue-Junto Nakatani superfight at Tokyo Dome in May.” WBA counterpart Seiya Tsutsumi who is eager to fight Ioka complained of Ioka’s contradictory comment from the ring, saying, “For what belt did he (Ioka) fight in this eliminator for #1?”

Promoter: Shisei Promotions.

WBA supervisor: Jose Oliver Gomez (Panama).
