Scott Enter’s ESPN’s Top 5

0 5

On September 19, at the historic Fox Theatre in Detroit, Kaye Scott made her middleweight debut against Olivia Curry in a thrilling draw that has been called a fight of the year candidate. Following the matchup, Scott entered ESPN’s top-5 rankings in the middleweight division at No. 5, marking a major milestone in her professional career. Curry remains in the No. 2 ranked position.

Scott, who is 41 years of age and 4-1-1 as a pro, had a highly decorated amateur career with over 150 fights.

Curry vs. Scott served as the co-featured bout on a fight card headlined by Polk County, Florida’s Brandon Moore UD10 over DeAndre Savage of Flint at Detroit’s legendary and opulent theatre. After the bout both Curry and Scott declared their intent to rematch.

Scott said, “Tonight was special; fighting inside the beautiful Fox Theatre to become a unified world champ. I was confident and dominant in the ring; erasing any doubt that I’m still just a playful amateur that only wants to tippy tap. I know my performance deserved to finish with only my hand raised. It was a war with a high tempo for all 10 rounds; but I controlled the majority of the rounds. I need the rematch because those belts belong with me. I won’t be denied twice.”

Meanwhile, Jelena Mrdjenovich, who defeated Liliana Martinez by UD8 on the non-televised undercard of the event, continues her ascent, breaking into the top-5 junior featherweight rankings.
