Before an enthusiastic crowd last night (Sat. Sept 20), Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing once again delivered an unforgettable night of fights at Rockin’ Fights 51, featuring explosive knockouts, shocking upsets, and, for the first time ever at The Paramount, Muay Thai championship action.

Undefeated super middleweight Junior Younan (22-0-1, 14KO, Brooklyn, NY) headlined against Croatia’s Luka Lozo (13-4-2, 12KO) in a scheduled 10-round WBA Continental Americas title bout. From the opening bell, both fighters traded heavy leather, but midway through the first round Younan landed a devastating right hand that dropped Lozo hard. Though Lozo gamely rose, Younan unleashed a furious flurry including a brutal left hook to the body that sent him down again, unable to beat the count. The official time was 2:43 of Round 1, giving Younan his third consecutive knockout victory. Post-fight, Younan and promoter Joe DeGuardia called out the top-ranked super middleweights in the world, declaring Younan ready for the elite.

In a six-round middleweight clash, Javier Vargas (7-2-1, 3KO, San Antonio, TX) handed Elmont’s local favorite Isaah “Zay” Flaherty (8-1, 4KO) his first professional defeat. The action was fast and furious, with Vargas scoring three knockdowns across the second and third rounds. Despite Flaherty’s grit and willingness to trade, Vargas secured a unanimous decision in one of the night’s most thrilling bouts.

Undefeated Italian-American prospect Micky Scala (12-1, 6KO, Mesa, AZ by way of Brooklyn, NY) suffered a stunning setback against Uruguay’s Jose Perdomo (8-7, 5KO). After a solid opening from Scala, Perdomo cracked him with a huge left hook in Round 2, followed by a relentless barrage that forced the referee’s stoppage at 1:36.

Opening the night, fans were treated to Muay Thai action for the first time ever at The Paramount. Star Boxing presented these two Muay Thai fights in association with Warriors Cup. The high-paced bouts added a new dimension to the famed Rockin’ Fights series and were met with enthusiasm from the Huntington crowd.

“Once again, Rockin’ Fights lived up to its reputation,” said Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia. “The atmosphere at The Paramount is unmatched, and fans know to expect the unexpected when they walk through those doors.”
