Men’s Captain’s Weekly News 28th July 2025
Hola Gents,
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and happy. Here in Andalucia, the weather continues to be bright and sunny with temperatures perhaps not quite as high as some had feared.
Last week I mentioned that we would host Real Guadalmina GC in the second of our two ACL matches and so last Wednesday we recorded a victory over them 10.5 -v- 7.5 in a tough encounter. Regrettably, this wasn’t enough to reverse the drubbing they gave us the previous week and so the overall score was 22 -v- 14 in their favour which is a serious reality check for our ambitions in the league!
Can I ask you all to please support the Charity Nine & Dine in support of Centro Contigo on Friday August 8th which is being very generously sponsored by Cornelia Bush. If you can at all, please play. If you can’t, please put your contribution in which will mean so much to the Charity. Gracias.

He scooped the pot on his own as the four others who had a two hadn’t entered (if ya ain’t in, ya can’t win!)
So excited was Matt Charlesworth who, with Jon Hale, had a win over Phil Fisher and Tony Flanagan in their flight, that he drove off home with Phil’s card and his own. Happily, he hadn’t gone too far when he was called back. Matt is obviously in great form right now (see below).
Last Sunday, saw a field of 90 turn out for the President’s Cup and most sat down to a very enjoyable lunch afterwards in the Alicia Riquelme room. The results are set out below. Congrats to Tony Holt on a great win – cream rises to the top!
I played with Svetlana who won the Ladies gross prize despite incurring 4 penalty shots at the 15th hole where she played a wrong ball for her 2nd shot thereby incurring a two shot penalty. Having discovered her mistake, she was then unable to find the ball that she had played off the tee and so had to go back to the tee under penalty of stroke and distance. As you’ll have seen, Joachim won the men’s 1st net prize, so joy unbounded in the Friedl household!. Bien hecho to both.

All the best and keep it down the middle.
