Summer in Spain – at its finest!

Beautiful weather, clear skies, and plenty of sunshine. The wind has calmed down over the past week, which has certainly had an impact on the golf – making conditions a bit more forgiving and enjoyable for everyone.
The atmosphere on the course has been fantastic – relaxed, cheerful, and full of summer spirit.

Last week was a special one at our club.
In addition to our regular two midweek competitions, a special tournament took place – the President’s Cup, a highlight on our tournament calendar.
An impressive 90 players took part, and the atmosphere was fantastic throughout the day. Due to the high number of participants, five tees had to be double-booked to accommodate everyone.
After the competition, Stephen kindly invited us all to lunch – a wonderful gesture that rounded off the day perfectly. Many thanks, Mr. President!

Congratulations to all the winners – well played!

22nd JULY LADIES TUESDAY COMPETITION PLAYED OF 49

This Tuesday, 16 ladies signed up to play. Since we were such a large group, I had to form four 4-ball groups. There were men playing behind us in a 3-ball, so to avoid holding them up, we played “speedy golf” – shot… shot… chip… putt… and so on, without too much hesitation. I kept an eye on the ladies throughout, and they were all playing at a great pace. I just hoped they didn’t feel under pressure because of it.

I was very happy to announce that we had some really good scores – almost everyone played well! And even better: all four groups finished within the target time on the scorecard – 4 hours, which is fantastic.

Well done, ladies – I’m very proud of you!

Winner:

1st Liz Desdmond   39 points
2nd Setlana Friedl   37 points
3th Anne Middlehurts   37 points

Birdies
Debbie Richards   14th hole

24TH JUNE LADIES THURSDAY COMPETITION PLAYED OF 49

Twelve ladies took part in the competition this Thursday.
There was something in the air – though not wind or rain! The weather was absolutely perfect: calm, dry, and ideal for golf. And yet… the scores weren’t particularly outstanding. But knowing our ladies, I can say this much: each one of us wants to play well, and the desire to tame the handicap runs deep!

Still, we had one really solid score – and the lady who achieved it was absolutely thrilled to take the win. Well deserved Ruth!

Winner:

1st Ruth Bailey   34 points
2nd Linda Fletcher  32 points
3th Agi Savitz   31 points

Upcoming events:

Tuesday     29 July  LADIES TUESDAY COMPETITION (49)
Thursday    31st July  LADIES THURSDAY COMPETITION (49)
Saturday  2nd August  LADIES RANKING SPONSORED BY ABBEYGATE

Course update from Borja:
Works for this week:

  • Top dressing of tees and greens taking place today
  • Fertilizer will be applied to greens later this week
  • Continued work on the trench behind the 15th hole bathroom
  • Ongoing task: Apply fresh mulch and remove weeds throughout the course

Chase birdies, not perfection – and enjoy every step of the game.
