Lady Captain’s Weekly News 7th April 2025

The club is still relatively quiet as Easter this year is very late. The majority of members should be here in the next couple of weeks.

The club organised a gastronomic evening on Thursday, which proved very popular in the Eddie Pollard room. Mirko prepared a spring tasting seafood menu which we all enjoyed. Coincidentally, it was Jon Hales birthday, so the celebrations went on well into the night.

Rumour has it that Gary, myself and Eddie Pollard will be teeing off on the putting green for the inauguration of the San Roque Masters on Friday morning – a bit of a déjà vu after my drive-in – hopefully, this time no rain. Stephen hopes to make this an annual event with the Captains being involved. Gosh here I go again!!!

We had a fun day with various pranks on the Course – no flag, only use putter on 7th , driver on 12th, iron on 17th and as you can see the 18th green was littered with marshmallows. Thank you to the Enrique and the team for their help in preparing the course.

Maybe she will bring me luck . I wish us all luck xxx

Diane Harmer won the draw. Lovely to have her back, she lost only on handicap to Ksenia.

SEVE TROPHY 2025 6th April

For the first time in at least 5 years, I am so proud to announce that the Captains WON back the Seve Trophy. We had a fabulous day playing 27 holes, I think it took around 7 hours! We then sat down to a delicious meal courtesy of the club. Some lovely speeches were made by Gary and Frank – very happy Lady Captain.

Put your names down for the Abbeygate Ranking, there is always a chance you might qualify for this great annual event. IT IS FUN!!!
