Gentlemen

With the Christmas and New Year events fast approaching, and some already completed, this week’s main tournaments were the Members and Staff Golf Day and the Christmas Charity Texas Scramble. These competitions are some of the highlights of our year, and it’s fantastic to have everyone come together to celebrate the festive season with a little friendly competition and a lot of holiday cheer. After the Members and Staff Day, we all gathered back at the Clubhouse for a delicious meal, some themed prizes and shared stories from the day with a little holiday banter.

Members & Staff Texas Scramble Tuesday December 17th Staff Putting Competition

What a fabulous competition with 63 Members and staff playing in the Annual Members & Staff Texas Scramble. Lots of encouragement by the Members for the staff who were not regular golfers but a lot of fun was had by all. It was not just about the scoring but the camaraderie of each of the teams. Everybody seemed to enjoy the shots (Vodka Caramel and Brandy to name a few) which certainly relaxed any nerves served by Alicia on the course.

The members of staff had a putting competition before the day of the Texas Scramble with a great display of putting.

A field of 27 players for the Men’s event which for me will be my last event of the year before flying to UK for Christmas with my family. Another great round from one of our Juniors, Javier Ybarra Gallagher, scoring 38 points and three points clear of the field. When he finally loses his junior status, very soon, we will be seeing him regularly towards the top of the leaderboard. A close run for the prizes with just two points covering the top six. Frank Breuer clinching first place with 35 points by a single point. Closely behind were Bill Fletcher, 2nd on handicap from Andy Macauley both with 34 points.

Christmas Texas Scramble Saturday December 21st

Yet another great turnout for the Charity Texas Scramble with 17 teams participating. Scoring was excellent with one shot covering the first four teams. First and second , then third and fourth were decided on handicap. So the team of Toon van Berlo, Liz Griffiths, Paul Ingebrigtsen and Frans van Dijk took the honours from Russ Williams, Renee Spencer, Megan and George Watson both scoring a net 54. Similarly Francis Payne, Alistair Locke, David and Tony Reynolds took third place from the team of Max Hare,  Douglas Fox, Robert Thomson and Chris Wilkie Pujol on handicap with a net score of 55. Thank you all for participating and wishing I could have been there. Thanks to Nicky for taking care of proceedings.
