Gentlemen

Another busy week of Golf at San Roque! Tuesday and Thursday midweek  competitions, ACL Match v Guadalmina , First Nine and Dine of 2024 and the  Monthly Medal. All this whilst trying to watch The Open (Royal Troon at the top),  2nd Test of Cricket and Formula 1.

Men’s Competition Tuesday July 16

With just 27 players competing it was a remarkably close competition. The top six  players were covered by just one point. All of the places were decided on  handicap with four members scoring 36 points to decide 3rd place. It’s a tough  school. It also saw Tony Flanagan returning to the winners enclosure beating  Paul Charles with 37 points each and Tony winning on lower handicap. Photos  look like Frank’s family album

With 38 players participating in the Mixed Competition scoring was very good  with a few players scoring over 40 like the temperature. A great round for Dan  Bannister playing off his new handicap of 4.2. Well played to Christine Taylor  who was the second lady behind Tammy with a score of 35 points. Seems like  the Men had the upper hand in this months Mixed competition with eight of the  top ten places.

San Roque ACL Match v Guadalmina (Away) Wednesday July 17

The first leg of the ACL fixture took place away at Guadalmina. This was a  match that SR were keen to perform well in as our points average is very similar  to them. Home advantage was slightly against us with SR losing 10 ½ v 7 ½ but  that is only half time. The Home match for SR is next Wednesday so we are  hoping to reverse the result with a strong performance and maintain our  challenge for the title.

FIRST NINE & DINE OF 2024 FRIDAY JULY 19TH

What a great turnout of 43 players participating and most of those dining on the  Members terrace. An enjoyable evening was had by all in what turned out to be  a balmy evening. There was also a special rendition, never heard before, of  Happy Birthday sung (if that is appropriate) by the Members to celebrate Ian  Wright’s xx birthday. The Texas scramble event was hotly contested by the  eleven teams taking part with a few exceptional scores. The celebrations  continued by the winning team of Rachel and Ian Wright, Anne Middlehurst and  Graeme Willis.

MEN’S Monthly Medal July 21st sponsored by Vinomarket

Thirty players started early with a refreshing cool breeze which was maintained  for most of the morning. Scoring was remarkably close with four players  finishing with net par. After some differing views about how ties are resolved it  was decided as follows:-

Unless otherwise stated, ties will be resolved in accordance with the rules of  the Spanish Federation. These state that for scratch competitions the player  with the highest PLAYING handicap will be declared the winner. In the event  that there is still a tie, the result will be determined using countback based on

the last 9holes,12holes,15holes and 17holes respectively. For net competitions  (whether Stableford or Medal), the winner will be the player with the lowest  PLAYING handicap. If there is still a tie, the result will be decided by countback  as detailed above.

So onto the results
