Arsenal seal deal for Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero

0 4

Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Independiente del Valle, with the pair set to complete their transfers when they turn 18 in August 2027.

The 16-year-olds are in London this week to complete the necessary formalities, including signing their contracts, ahead of a formal announcement at a later date.

They cannot join the club permanently until they reach the age threshold in the summer of 2027, but Arsenal have moved early to secure two of South America’s most highly regarded prospects.

The fee remains undisclosed, although the move follows the club’s continued push to recruit leading teenage talent across global markets.

Independiente del Valle have built a strong reputation for developing elite Ecuadorian players, including Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo and Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie, who joined on loan from Bayer Leverkusen with an option to buy.

Edwin Quintero is a right-sided winger known for his acceleration and direct dribbling, and scouts have compared aspects of his early style to a young Neymar.

Holger Quintero operates as an attacking midfielder and has earned similar praise for his balance, technique, and ability to dictate the final third.

Both players are Ecuador Under-17 internationals and made their debuts in the same fixture against Costa Rica last year.

Sources close to the agreement describe the double deal as a significant win for Arsenal’s youth recruitment staff.

A key factor is believed to be the club’s ability to demonstrate a genuine pathway from academy level to senior football.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, and Max Dowman have all moved into first-team contention over the last 18 months, strengthening the case made to the Quintero family.

Dowman became the youngest player in Champions League history this season after coming off the bench against Slavia Prague shortly after signing his scholarship terms.

The Quintero brothers are expected to continue their development with Independiente del Valle’s youth and senior setups over the next year and a half.

Arsenal will then look to integrate the duo into their academy system once the transfers are made official in August 2027.
