Job Title: Adult Indoor League Coordinator
Reports to: Manager, Recreational Programs
Work Type: Seasonal
Contract Term: January 11, 2026 to April 12, 2026
Work Schedule: 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm; Sundays to Thursdays
Compensation: $22.00/hour
Closing Date: 5:00 PM PDT, Monday, December 15, 2025 (If the position is not filled the competition will remain open until a candidate has been selected)
JOB OVERVIEW
Volleyball BC is the provincial sport governing body that actively encourages participation and fosters the development of volleyball in BC. The head office is based at the Harry Jerome Sports Centre (HJSC), located in Burnaby, BC.
The Adult Indoor League Coordinator is a seasonal-contract position based out of the Harry Jerome Sport Centre (HJSC) in Burnaby, BC. This role requires strong organization, communication, and customer-service skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with staff, officials, and volunteers. Evenings and weekend work are required, aligned with the adult indoor league schedules.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Duties
Under the direction of the Manager, Recreational Programs, the Coordinator will oversee all on-site operational and supervisory duties for VBC’s adult indoor leagues at HJSC, including:
- Lead on-site operations for all adult league nights at HJSC.
- Provide positive and timely on-site communication and customer service to participants.
- Oversee nightly league check-in, attendance tracking, manage match start/end times, and participant support.
- Ensure courts are set up and taken down properly, including nets, antennas, balls, and score sheets.
- Monitor cleanliness and readiness of the facility’s league areas before, during, and after play.
- Print and distribute necessary materials (schedules, score sheets, standings, etc.).
- Represent Volleyball BC with professionalism and serve as a positive ambassador for the organization.
- Other duties and assignments as required.
2. Working Conditions
- Approximately 95% of time spent at an indoor facility;
- Direct exposure to loud noise due to live sports and music in an enclosed area;
- This position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate league schedules.
- The incumbent is expected to be in regular contact with the rest of the team and to be responsive via phone, email, internal messaging systems, etc., during working hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong understanding of volleyball leagues is required. Indoor volleyball or sport-related experience would be considered an asset;
- Very strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills;
- Highly organized and proactive with superb time-management in a busy working environment;
- Ability to work both independently and in a team under stressful and high-pressure situations;
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
2. Training and Experience:
- 1+ years of experience in customer service is required;
- 1+ years of experience in sport or a related field is preferred.
3. Licenses, Certificates and Registrations:
- Completion and maintenance of a clear Criminal Record Check required;
- Completion of the NCCP Safe Sport Training is required;
- Valid First-Aid / CPR certification is an asset.
