New sand volleyball courts completed at Gage Park
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local park officials are ready to cut the ribbon on four new sand volleyball courts in Topeka.
Ashley Gilfillan with Shawnee County Parks and Recreation said in a press release that a ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 at Gage Park. The ceremony commemorates the completion of four new sand volleyball courts, which can be found near the corner of 10th Street and Civitan Lane near the park's south side.
Gilfillan said the courts have new lighting and fencing to improve play experiences for park visitors. Shawnee County Parks and Recreation will offer league play and the opportunity to reserve the courts. The courts will be open to the public at no cost when no reservations or league games are scheduled.
The Washburn women's volleyball team will be present to cut the ribbon during the ceremony. Members of the team will also make the first official "serve" at the courts to mark the special occasion.
