AAU updates the double contact rule on 2nd ball for Nationals

0 7

Public Service Announcement for all the parents out there ready to scream double at AAU Nationals.  As many of you know there has been a significant change to 2nd contact rules for 2024-25 NCAA season.

The USAV rule reads as follows:  On the second team hit, the ball may contact various parts of the body consecutively, provided that the contacts occur during one action and the ball is next touched by a teammate. If the ball completely crosses the net or is first touched by the opponent after multiple contacts on the second team hit, a double hit fault will be called.  This elimination of a judgment call by the officials will start getting enforced in 2025-26 high school (NFHS) season.

However, at this year’s AAU Girls’ and Boys’ nationals the rule is going to be in effect so don’t attack the officials when they are not calling doubles!
