Second Olympics paedophile REVEALED as convicted abuser coach seen at games after outrage over Dutch volleyball rapist

ANOTHER convicted paedophile is working at the Paris Olympics after fury over Dutch child rapist Steven van de Velde who played volleyball for the Netherlands.

Australian coach Brett Sutton, 65, sexually abused a 13-year-old girl he was training in the late 1980s and went on to train an Olympian for this year’s games.

Sutton has been in Paris working with Julie Derron, who bagged a silver medal for Switzerland at the triathlon race on Wednesday.

Despite international coaching bans, Sutton was accredited by China, and Olympians are free to choose whichever personal coach they wish.

Swiss athlete Derron selected him and snapped a smiling pic with the convicted paedo after her race last week.

In 1999 Sutton plead guilty to five counts of sexual abuse and was given a suspended sentence of three years with no jail time.

A judge said he interfered with the teen in a “gross and disgraceful way” and “abused his role”, according to The Sunday Times.

The same teenage girl reported his crimes to the police once she was an adult.

She secretly recorded a conversation with him where he admitted to the sexual abuse.

In 2002 Sutton told The Observer that he doesn’t coach anyone under the age of 16.

He said: “It’s the age of consent. My lawyer told me. That way, no one can say I am a paedophile.”

It comes after Olympic crowds booed and jeered as Dutch volleyball player and convicted child abuser Steven van de Velde was booted out of the games on Sunday night.

Despite international outcry from sexual violence charities, lawmakers and other countries, he was allowed to compete in this year’s Olympics.

Velde, 29, was sentenced to four years in prison in 2016 after pleading guilty to raping a 12-year-old British girl when he was 19.

A judge at the time said his then-promising career was a “shattered dream” after the grim conviction.

But the Netherlands sent Velde to the Olympics anyway.

Coach Sutton was barred from coaching by several Australian federations after his conviction in 1999.

The National Olympic Committee said he was “banned for life from swimming in Australia following his sexual offences conviction”.

He was also banned for life by USA triathlon in 2021.

But he moved to Switzerland after his conviction and began working at a family-run coaching business in the St Moritz ski resort.

After working there for more than 20 years, he now boasts about his expertise on a coaching service website.

Sutton claims to have shaped the athletic careers of “many of the sport’s icons over the past 35 years”.

He charges around £780 a month for the services.

A spokesperson for Sutton confirmed he is an accredited coach for China at the Paris Olympics.

He also said Sutton worked as an accredited member of the Swiss team at previous Olympics in 2020, 2016 and 2012.

Switzerland’s squad hit back and said: “Brett Sutton does not work for Swiss Olympic, and he does not have any function for our organisation in Paris.”

“Swiss athletes decide for themselves who they work with as personal coaches.”

He has now left the Paris games after his athlete finished competing.
