EL CAJON, Calif. – The San Diego Christian College Hawks women's volleyball team defeated the Hope International Royals on Saturday 3 sets to 1. The victory completed the season sweep of HIU and lifted SDCC's record to 11-6 overall and 6-5 in the GSAC.

The Hawks came out blazing in set one, with Arianna Velasquez serving the first four points of the match. Velasquez continued her dominating service by going on a 6-point run on her next rotation. From there San Diego Christian would cruise to an easy 25-12 set victory.

The Hawks could not catch a break in set two. Despite Ayanna Nunuha providing several spectacular dig for SDCCs, everything seemed to fall the Royals way and they drew even with a 25-19 win.

Isabella Marshal and Celestina Iupeli got the Hawks off to a flying start in the third providing five combined early kills. SDCC would jump out to a big set lead claim set three 25-13.

The Royals would jump out to a 7-3 lead quickly in the fourth set, but the Hawks would not be denied. San Diego Christian would fight their way back to pull even with the Royals 11-11. From here, the two teams would battle back and forth, with SDCC eventually winning set 26-24 and the match 3-1.

The SDCC team offense was once again their strength as kills came from all over the floor. Marshall once again led the SDCC offense with 16 kills, while Breanna Brooks provided 12 kills and 4 blocks.  Jessica Pinasco tallied 14 kills of her own and contributed 18 digs. Senior Kayli Barrera led the defense with 21 digs.
