[Volleyball] Falcons Fall to Bethany in Lindsborg
LINDSBORG, Kan. — The Friends University Falcons fell 3-0 Wednesday to the Bethany College Swedes in Lindsborg, Kan.
After dropping the first set 25-19, the Falcons found themselves with a 14-11 lead, but the Swedes responded with three straight points to tie the second set.
The teams traded points until back-to-back kills by Jordan Valentine gave Bethany the 27-25 win.
Bethany opened the third set on a 5-2 spurt but kills by Rheagan Hoover (SR/Pratt, Kan. ) and Jadyn Kallenberger (FR/University Place, Wash.) aided the Falcons to a 4-1 run to tie the set 6-6.
From there, the Swedes took control to win the third game 25-18, and take the match 3-0.
Sarah Lazar-St. John (SR/Rose Hill, Kan. ) paced the Falcons with seven kills, while Hoover and Kallenberger each added six kills. Raquel Gonzales (SR/Las Cruces, N.M. ) finished with a team-high 15 assists, and Antonia Perier (FR/Bakersfield, Calif.) recorded a match-high 26 digs.
Valentine led the way for the Swedes with a match-best 16 kills, and McKenzie Scott finished with 34 assists.
The Falcons return to the Garvey Center on Saturday (Oct. 9) at 6 p.m. to take on Oklahoma Wesleyan. Tickets to all Friends University home events can be purchased HERE.
