[Volleyball] Volleyball Takes Bite Out of No. 23 Bulldogs
Doane Volleyball snapped a seven-match losing streak to Concordia on Wednesday evening as the Tigers downed the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs in five sets in an important GPAC battle. The win improved the Tigers overall record to 17-5 and conference mark to 5-4 while Concordia dropped to 9-8 and 4-5, respectively. The teams split the season series as game scores on the night were 25-21, 26-28, 21-25, 25-21, and 15-13.
Jaime Renshaw (JR/Sioux Falls, S.D.) paced the Tigers with her first career triple-double, dishing out 51 assists to go with 16 digs and a career-high 10 kills. Gabby Menghini (SR/North Platte, Neb.) led Doane with a match-high 20 kills as she added 13 digs. Kirsten Bures (JR/Odell, Neb.) added 11 kills, including a kill on each of the final two points of the match to break a 13-all tie in the final set. Genna Ryan-Piasecki (SR/Castle Rock, Colo.)n posted 10 kills and seven total blocks.
Doane finished with 87 digs in the match as Reagan Petersen (SR/Syracuse, Neb.) joined Renshaw for team-high honors with 16. Kennedy Scheele (SR/Plymouth, Neb.) and Joslyn Crow (SR/Hershey, Neb.) added 12 digs apiece.
For the night, Doane hit .234 as a team with 68 kills while Concordia hit .217 with 71 kills. The Tigers posted 7.0 blocks while Concordia finished with 6.0.
Next up for the Tigers will be a home match against Morningside on Saturday, October 9, at 3 PM.
