0 11

The St. Ambrose men's volleyball team continued their win streak on Thursday night, defeating Lincoln College 25-19, 25-12, 26-24 to win their fifth straight match.

The Bees fell behind by four in the first set until four straight kills - one from Skyler Marushige and three from Jaylen Clark - and a block from Clark and Myles Hudson gave the Bees a 18-17 lead that they would never relinquish. SAU closed out the set with a block from Marushige and Jason Bageanis and a Lincoln attacking error.

The second set was a different story as St. Ambrose jumped out to an early 8-2 lead. Clark led off with two service aces and blocks from Hudson, Avery Clark & Bageanis, and Bageanis & Harry Khaira helped the Bees gain an advantage over the Lynx. Two kills from Bageanis and a Lincoln attacking error pushed the lead to 20-10. Avery Clark closed out the set with a kill.

SAU found themselves down early again, falling behind by as much as four in the third set. The Bees battled back to tie the game at 9 and took a one point lead after a Hudson kill. The teams continued to trade points, with no team leading by more than two. A Drew Hamlin kill cut into Lincoln's lead at 23-22. Bageanis followed with a kill, and Hamlin put down another to give the Bees the edge at 24-23. The Lynx responded and tied the game, but a Bageanis kill and another attacking error from Lincoln gave St. Ambrose the win.

Bageanis and J. Clark each had a game-high eight kills, and Marushige and Hamlin both put down five. Khaira had 25 assists, and Ricardo Ubior led the team in digs with six.

SAU will compete again on Saturday, Feb. 20th as they travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa to take on William Penn University.
