Kathryn Plummer leads No. 1 Stanford to NCAA volleyball quarterfinals

Kathryn Plummer had 24 kills and Tami Alade added 12 as top-ranked Stanford moved into the NCAA volleyball quarterfinals with a 25-17, 24-26, 25-14, 25-19 victory over No. 19 Washington State at Maples Pavilion on Friday night.

Stanford (31-1), which beat Washington State twice during the regular season, also got 11 kills from Audriana Fitzmorris and 10 from Holly Campbell as it extended its winning streak to a school-record 29 matches. Taylor Mims had 17 kills for Washington State (23-10).

The Cardinal will continue their pursuit of an eighth national title when they host No. 7 Penn State, which swept Washington at Maples Pavilion on Friday, at 7 p.m. Saturday. The winner will advance to the final four next week in Minneapolis.
