0

After a long weekend that saw the Lady Bearcats lose to the top rank team in the conference, I.U. Kokomo 25-20,23-25, 17-25, 14-25 and then traveling in the first sleet storm of the season on their way to Cincinnati to face off against Cincinnati Christian. The Lady Bearcats would go 1-1 on the weekend taking down the Eagles of C.C.U. 25-16, 25-12, 25-14.

This would set up tonight's senior night match up against the Grenadiers of I.U. Southeast. The Lady Bearcats come into tonight's match as the number two seeded team in the west division at 12-3, (with the second-best record in the conference), I.U. Southeast is currently seeded 4th with a record of 11-3. "Tonight's match is all about seeding for the conference tournament. A win will secure us the number two seed." (Coach Forbes)

Tonight, is also about the Lady Bearcats, seniors Courtney Reels and Rhiannon Ungerer. The two seniors will be honored in front of the home crowd for their last home match of their careers. Courtney is a speech pathology major and plans to attend grad school after she graduates in May. Courtney has recorded over 700 digs in her career and has been the backbone of the team. Courtney has also been able to maintain a 3.8 GPA and will be a two-year NAIA all scholar athlete.

Rhiannon is a computer science major and plans to attend the FBI national training center in Quantico, Virginia after she graduates in May. Rhiannon has recorded 1097 kills and 1628 digs in her career at Brescia. Rhiannon has been a team captain for the past two seasons. Rhiannon has also never missed a match, starting in all 123 matches and 418 games in the last four seasons.

"These two young ladies have brought this program to the top of the River States Conference.  Their leadership and passion for the game is what made them both great players here at Brescia. I have enjoyed every second being their coach. They have made me a better coach and person in the brief time they have been here. I will truly miss you both!" (Coach Forbes)

Tonight's activities will begin around 7:00 p.m.
