[Volleyball] Volleyball's Win Streak Ends vs. Reinhardt
WALESKA, Ga. - The St. Andrews University women's volleyball team saw their five-game win streak come to an end as they fell in three sets (19-25, 17-25, 19-25) to AAC South Division foe Reinhardt University on the road Friday evening.
REINHARDT 3, SAU 0
A well-played first set saw the Eagles total six more kills than the Knights, 16-10, while both teams only combined to make 9 errors as RU hit .333 to take it 25-19. RU then controlled the second set behind 16 kills again to SAU's nine to take it 25-17. The final set then saw the Knights have an error-filled game leading to the 19-25 loss.
OFFENSE
Senior outside hitter Tessa Smith (SR/Jacksonville, FL) led the Lady Knights with 6 kills and nine digs while senior middle blocker Kiah Cheatham (SR/Kalamazoo, MI) also contributed 4 kills with two digs and three blocks while hitting .111.
Senior middle blocker Lindsey Wagner (SR/Austin, TX) also added 4 kills with two digs and a block while junior MB Destiney O'Kane (JR/El Paso, TX) finished with 3 and zero errors with a block and an assist.
Sophomore setters Shalia Powell (SO/Dayton, NV) and Brooke Thomas (SO/Brunswick, GA) combined for 19 assists and 8 digs led by Thomas' 11 assists and one kill.
DEFENSE
Freshman libero Karina Lozada (FR/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and senior DS Austin Payne (SR/Kingsport, TN) combined for 17 digs with Lozada leading the way at 11 digs, a season-high three aces, and three assists with a kill.
SAU falls to 9-5 and 5-2 in the AAC while Reinhardt improves to 16-3 and 7-1 in the AAC. Reinhardt has swept the season series from the Knights.
St. Andrews will next return home to host AAC foe Bluefield College (Va.) next Friday at 6:30 PM after their home game with Columbia College (S.C.) on Tuesday was cancelled with the Knights winning by forfeit.
