[Volleyball] Tigers roll for straight set win

0

Leading by example is key and senior Caroline Ricks made it clear in the Georgetown College volleyball's opening match Friday. Ricks, with the Tigers up 2-0 in the match and leading 11-3 in set three, chased a free ball, dove and pancaked (flat hand on the floor ball bounces off top of the hand) it back into action. Jenny Howell finished the point several minutes later as the Tigers (1-0) rolled 25-14, 25-7, 25-14.

"I was ready to go for this match," Ricks said. "We've waited a long time for this. It was important to me that I was giving my all and even better it was motivating to see how we all were clicking and working hard together."

GC had to cancel its first four matches of the year this past weekend due to Hurricane Harvey. So while some teams, like opponent Bryan College, had already played five or six matches, GC is just starting. The Lions fall to 1-6 on the season and managed just 14 kills with a negative hitting percentage for the game.
