[Volleyball] Cavs Win in a Five Set Thriller Over Saints

SHAWNEE- On Tuesday evening in Shawnee, the Cavs (6-3) won their home opener in comeback fashion over the Randall University Saints. St. Gregory's dropped the first two sets, but then came out of the intermission and won the next three. The Cavaliers came out slow in the first two sets, and fell 15-25 in set one, and then lost a heartbreaker in set two, 26-28. After the intermission, the Cavs won the next three sets 25-18, 25-19, and 15-12. 

Kristen Macy had a big game for the Saints by recording 23 kills and a game-high 33 digs. Tiera Misuraca added 13 kills and 18 digs in the loss.

St. Gregory's was led by Gabby Ware (JR/San Antonio, Texas)'s 16 kills on offense, and she also added 20 digs on defense. BreAnna Smoak (JR/Iowa Park, Texas) recorded 9 kills and Krystal Lopez (JR/El Paso, Texas) added 8 kills of her own. Sunny Clark (JR/Dublin, Texas) had a big game that included 22 assists, 5 aces, and 25 digs. Sarah Ahrens (JR/Wichita Falls, Texas) finished the match with 16 assists and 7 digs. Kayley Davis (SO/Irving, Texas) played well on defense, recording 20 digs, and she also added 5 assists. Courtney Murphy (SR/Tulsa, Okla.) was a human wall at the net, as she recorded a game-high 8 block assists, and 5 total blocks.

The Cavs will be back on the court on Friday, Sept. 1, when they take on Langston University and Southwestern College (Kan.) in Winfield, Kan., at 5 and 7 PM.
