The host Cavaliers packed four matches into two days' time and came away with an even 2-2 mark in their annual Volley in the Mountains tournament this past weekend. After winning two of their first three, the Cavs dropped their final match of the tournament on Saturday evening when they fell to the Shawnee State Bears (OH) (21-25, 23-25, 16-25).
Montreat (3-2) opened the tournament with a loss to the nationally-ranked University of Jamestown (ND) (3-1). They then bounced back to post consecutive wins over Talladega College (AL) (0-4) and the University of Rio Grande (OH) (1-3) in front of energized McAlister Gym crowds.
The Cavaliers' losses came to Jamestown and Shawnee State squads that went a combined 6-2 in the tournament.
