  1. Chairman’s Report 2025 – Gloria Riley

Gosh! Where has that year gone.  It does not seem 5 minutes ago that I was sitting here, thanking you all for attending the AGM, thanking the sailing club for having us and thanking Martin for running the bar.

So, thank you all again for attending the 2025 AGM for Phil, organizing the bar and thank you to the sailing club for having us.

As Chairman our AGM gives me the opportunity to thank the committee for their passion, creativity and time.  I would also like to thank club members who marshal ensuring events run smoothly and professionally and thank you also to our sponsors and friends who pop in and out of events offering experience and a whole host of skills.

I am sure this evening you will hear about the many successes of our members this year.  For the first time in ages, I travelled to Newport to take part in the swim part of the long course.  I take my hat off to the club members who took part. Fantastic performances, sprinkled with fun and laughter.  I would like to make a special mention to Jill who looked absolutely frozen after the swim and yet went on to finish 2nd overall.  I am in awe Jill, well done.

Last year we agreed to the concept of Ian’s Legacy.  1000 pounds would be made available each year to support a member or members development.  The first recipients of this award were Alex Dack and James Parkinson.  I am certain Jill will tell us more about Alex’s success in her report.

During this year, we have put on sessions relating to diet and performance, relaxation, energy bars, warming up and cooling down as well as the mind’s contribution to performance.  We have explored personality, goal setting, anxiety and positive and negative thoughts.  I would like to thank both Karen and Holly for these informative sessions and I look forward to further courses next year.

I would also like to thank Abbi Darrall for an excellent first aid course where we looked at life saving skills, the use of a defib and discussed various situations and how to respond to them. Abbi has kindly agreed to taking more courses in the new year.

As a Tri Club we are responsible for developing and delivering 3 disciplines, swimming, cycling and running.  As a committee we have been exploring ways in which we can offer members the opportunity to experience triathlons and their individual parts, and we need to continue to do this ensuring the Club retains its identity and ethos.

Once again thank you for attending and we will move to the financial report
