Kent Coastal marathon and 10k
Kent Coastal half marathon and 10k.
The last major event that Deal Tri runners went out to play with was the Kent Coastal half marathon and 10k, another great multi distance event.
The route starts at Palm Bay, heads out towards Margate, swings back and follows the coast along to Ramsgate, with a couple of nasty hills as a special surprise! Once past those on the way back, it’s pretty flat.
Stuart Phillips led the orange train back to the finish first, with Mark Baldock coming in behind him. Mark is on great form at the moment, and was rewarded by being the 1st Male in his age group. Luke McNicholas was delighted to get his half marathon down to under 2 hours (1.57 – so there was a bit of room to spare!). Richard Price completed the half marathon in 1hr42, having also done a shakeout run at parkrun the day before. Karen Price took the opportunity to complete the 10k, in a smidge over an hour, also showing that hard work and a positive mental attitude makes a difference.
So we’ve covered the 4 big events that Deal Tri runners took part in this weekend. Many were first timers, longest runs, and maybe relatively new to running too. We must also mention the people just getting out for fresh air and exercise, which is good for mental health and physical health, whether they were walking, cycling, swimming or running – it’s all good for you.
