Up the Creek, Kilrush The club was out in force for this challenging sprint race in Kilrush. 

We retained the John Lynch Memorial trophy for the top club at Up the Creek 2024, as well as dominating the podium with Sinéad Walsh taking the win and Eimear Laffan in Second. On the Men’s side Mike Quinlivan pipped Ray Kearney for Second in the closing stages. There were plenty of AG prizes too with wins for Valerie Kearney, Helen Hartigan, Declan Forde & Bernard Loughlin. It was a first triathlon for Wayne Clifford and a comeback for Sean Guinane, John Deegan and Ger Benson

TriAthyTC was represented at this big event on Saturday across the distances: Thiago Silva took on the Olympic, joined by his brother from Brazil, crossing the line together. In the Sprint distance Brian Touhy was 11th, Cathal Mc Carthy 17th, and Martin Pierce took on his first Open Water Sprint- bravo.Christian Jones put in a 5:07 for 24th place at the Double Olympic.

Congratulations to Shane O’Neill who ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon.

IM Hamburg on Sunday June 2nd saw Ed Fahy, Sean McGlynn, John Gleeson, Gerry McIntyre & Daniel Garry took on the European Championships – There was a lot of experience there with Ed Fahy running his 80th marathon on the day, with all competing brilliantly.  It was Dano’s first IM and what a  debut.

‘Hook or By Crook’ Dunmore EastWell done to Martin Pierce & Robbie Mulligan.

IM 70.3 Warsaw Congratulations to Karol Bielecki on completing his first 70.3.

Well done to Patrick Dundas, winner of the Dingle Adventure Race  – Sport distance.

Fastnet Triathlon – in Schull, Róisín Kelleher took second placein this competitive National Series Race, with AG going to Siobhan Quain and Helen Hartigan. Wayne Clifford had a super day at his second Triathlon  – well done all.

Tribesman Sprint, Galway – Well done to Ray Kearney, Brian Touhy & Darragh Nicholas – all top 20 finishers, with Sinéad Walsh taking 5th (AG1) and Jennifer Lee having super races.

Christian Jones took on the CELTMAN in Scottish highland’s – this extreme triathlon is made up of a SWIM 3.4 KM, BIKE 200 KM (2200M), RUN 42 KM (1600M) –  He finished in 16:15:23

IM Nice – new member Ruaidhrí O’Conaill in his second ever triathlon put in an impressive swim, bike and run to become an IRONMAN in 11:47:21

Blackwater Olympic – Blackwater TC ran a fantastic National Series race Ronan Costelloe placed 3rd overall,  Sinead Walsh was 10th Female taking AG 2 and Sarah Deegan completed her first Olympic distance in some time, smiling all the way.

Our Bike Time Trial series finished up on June 26th – we had over 45 riders out challenging themselves against the clock, with each helping out by Marshaling on one of the nights – true club spirit. Thanks To Mike Clancy, Dan Shannah & Sean Guinnane for organising a fantastic series.

Kilkee ‘Hell of The West’ our renowned Olympic distance event did not disappoint.

you never quite know what to expect at this race, and this years event certainly had its challenges!

First home for Limerick in the Men’s race was Ronan Costelloe in 2:16, taking third overall and the Joey Hannan trophy as first Limerick TC man. Brian Touhy was next in 2:33 very closely followed by his friend Ray Kearney. We had over 40 men racing.

On the women’s side, taking the win for the first time here, Kathyrn Fahy took the tape in 2:31. This was more than a race on the day, it was personal. Limerick TC members were racing for the Lynne Algar Memorial Cup, as a friend of Lynne’s Kathyrn gave her all to win this award. An emotional Kathryn was greeted on the finish line by Lynne’s Mom Angela and sister Jenny. 

Roisin Kelleher was so impressive in her bike and run, in her first HoTW , she came home second 2:39. Shona Keane was our third lady home in 2:43 for 5th place, despite taking a nasty fall off the bike – we wish her a speedy recovery.

A massive congratulations to our first timers today including Robbie Mulligan, Wayne Clifford, Fernando Ortero, Izabela Fitzgerald, Bebhinn Joyce, Yvonne Ryan, Jade Murphy, Jennifer Lee and Robbie Bannon  – we know the work you put into it and can be very proud. 

Having marshaled at HoTW well done to Martin Pierce at the Hills Of the Harbour Sprint on Sunday June 30th.

And finally some new arrivals, congratulations to Caoimhe Maguire and Finbar Aherne on the arrival of Bebhinn,  and to Edel Foster on Cathals arrival – welcome to the world!
