Comm Games gold for Aus mixed triathlon team

April 7, 2018. Australian triathletes Ashleigh Gentle, Gillian Backhouse, Matt Hauser and Jake Birtwhistle, speak after winning the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games triathlon mixed team relay. Gentle says she had to let go of her “disappointing” run in the women’s triathlon on Thursday and back herself to run well today, revealing she was more nervous in the mixed event in not wanting to let her team down. Backhouse says she thought defending champions England would be hard to top and Hauser adds “we had a point to prove and we certainly stamped our authority on that race”. Birtwhistle says his team-mates set him up for “almost like a victory lap” and thinks with the event’s inclusion in the Tokyo Olympics, it's Australia’s to lose. (AAP Video/Carol Cho)
