  • At past Wimbledon tournaments, Meghan Markle attended wearing chic sun hats to stay in the shade during the outdoor tennis tournament.
  • But this year, when Markle headed to her seat in the Royal Box, she sported a bun and carried a white hat, but didn’t put it on her head.
  • Because she’s now the Duchess of Sussex, Markle needed to follow Royal Box dress etiquette, which requires spectators to "dress smartly" and avoid hats, in case they might block the view of the people sitting in the rows behind.

As a close, personal friend of Serena Williams’, Meghan Markle’s attendance at this year’s Wimbledon tournament was expected and highly-anticipated by tennis fans and avid royal-watchers.

And luckily, the new Duchess of Sussex did not disappoint. She arrived at the courts this weekend in a pair of breezy wide-leg ivory trousers and a blue-and-white striped blouse, accompanied by her sister-in-law — and the Royal Family’s official Patron of Wimbledon — Kate Middleton.
