Leylah Fernandez

0 1

Despite an impressive run to the finals, Leylah Fernandez’s time at the Rothesay was destined to end there.

The Canadian tennis star lost to Russia’s Daria Kasatkina, the sixth seed at the tournament, in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) in Eastbourne, England on Saturday.

Fernandez had made a solid go at some hardware, taking down seventh-seed Barbora Krejcikova in the opening round and the world No. 12 Madison Keys in the semifinal, but Kasatkina, the world No. 14, was a bridge too far.

The 21-year-old will now head to Wimbledon for her opening-round match against Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti.
