Afghanistan wins gold in virtual Taekwondo Poomsae event

The National Taekwondo team has won seven Medals in Nepal Open International Virtual Poomsae Taekwondo Championships.

Athletes from 30 countries from around the globe attended the championship.

Mohammad Shahrzad, head of the media office of the Afghanistan Taekwondo Federation said, as you know, many sports events were delayed but competitions in some styles can be held virtually.

He added, “the Nepal taekwondo federation succeeded in holding the Poomsae taekwondo championship in which 30 countries attended,”.

According to him, 22 athletes from Afghanistan participated in the event, and he added that Afghan athletes won these medals in different age categories.

In the finals Mohammad Idris Qarizada won the Gold medal, Sayed Rustam Akbari received a silver medal, and Sayed Zarif Hashimi, Sumaya Adil Niazi, Anzaroot Wali, Abdul Muoz, Ahmad Salik, and Sardar Agha were awarded Bronze medals.

Fortunately, today we saw that our athletes did well in this international event, Mohammad Shahrzad said, adding that the Poomsae committee of the National Taekwondo Federation in collaboration with other trainers has worked hard to improve this style of taekwondo in Afghanistan.
