The Future

With the withdrawal of Tennis B the First Division is now only nine strong ie three blanks. In total there are 40 teams in the League. There has been a gradual decline for several years but the league is facing some real problems. So what can be done to keep the League alive? The decision making body of the League is the AGM any decisions taken there could only, in all fairness, be implemented for the 2018-19 season. If we feel the need to change the format then an EGM will need to be called in the winter break so that all participants have half a season to know what the future holds.

Here are some possibilities

5 divisions of eight each

Smaller top division, say 8, with three matches against everybody else.

Same league format but round robin KO Cup competitions (this would not require an EGM)

Same league format but a doubles competition arranged (this would not require an EGM)

I am sure there are many more so get chatting with your team and your opponents and get the suggestions on here so that all can see them.
