One hundred fifty players from around the world, 17 of them Olympians, competed in Fremont for four days at Table Tennis America for the World Table Tennis Feeder Series.
On Sunday, the final day, the Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles were crowned. Sakura Mori and Asuka Sasao of Japan won their Women’s Doubles match (11-9, 11-7, 11-13, 8-11, 11-9) against Taiwan’s Li Yu-Jhun and Cheng I-Ching.
In other matches, Hiroto Shinozuka beat Tom Jarvis to win the Men’s Singles match. After winning the Women’s Doubles match Asuka Sasao played and beat Haruna Ojio for the Women’s Singles title. Uda Yukiya and Shunsuke Togami beat Yuta Tanaka and Hiroto Shinozuka in the Men’s Doubles final.
Hundreds of people stayed for hours to watch the four matches, which began at 4:00 p.m. and ended about 9:00 p.m.
