One of the county's top swimming talents has taken home two medals at European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) being held in the Slovakia.

Stefan Krawiec, who lives in Prestonpans, produced two wonderful swims on Friday in the 4x100 medley relay and 100m butterfly at the pool in Banksá Bystrica.

Krawiec claimed gold for Team GB in the 4x100 medley relay whilst also taking home an individual bronze in the 100m butterfly.

In the 100m butterfly, the 16-year-old would break his own lifetime record, claiming a Scottish junior record at the same time.

Krawiec's time of 54.97 falling less than a second behind the gold medalist Ethan Dumesnil from France.

Earlier in the week, Krawiec had already competed in the final of the 100m freestyle and in the heats of the 200m individual medley gaining vital experience of elite level swimming in the process.

The teenager, who attends Ross High School in Tranent, started taking swimming lessons at the nearby Loch Centre before joining Tranent Amateur Swimming Club.

He holds several Scottish age-group swimming records and is a member of East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) and the Scottish National Junior Team.

The EYOF's have proven a springboard for a number of top athletes to compete in future Olympics Games' and Krawiec's performances this week provide much optimism for the future of British Swimming.
