The Cambridge University student struggled to get clear as the bully bird was joined by its partner and cygnets.
But he was eventually helped out of the water by pals on the banks.
An onlooker said: “It looked like a comedy sketch. He tried to climb out but slid back in.
“The swan was getting more and more angry.”
