Marginal at best
Hello Friend,
This morning saw sunny skies and a cool WSW breeze ruffling the straight south 1.7 m, 9-second period south swell. The MHL data from 0700 shows that most of the swell energy is headed away from the coast, so it’s not surprising that Dee Why wasn’t seeing much in the way of waves. As the picture above shows, the focal point for the energy was near the Pole. It was pretty weak sauce, and the choppy conditions weren’t helping much. Still it was sort of rideable. The point had a few hopefuls eking out the odd little section along the rocks.
Bottom line: hunt around and you’ll probably find something to burbble along on.
Prospects are unlikely to improve between now and the weekend as the south energy slumps and is replaced with short-period east to ESE little windswell lumps by Saturday morning. The long range models are still showing some slight hope of a bump into the 2 metre range from the south (along with showery and chilly weather) for late next week. I’m not circling any dates at this stage.
Go well with your Wednesday everyone!
Weather Situation
Southerly winds will gradually weaken today before turn east to northeasterly, then northerly by Thursday as a high pressure system drifts across the state. Later in the week, another trough looks set to brush southern and central parts of the coast, bringing a brief southerly change before weakening.
