It was supposed to go flat but it didn’t

0 8

Hello Friends,

Well, there’s a turn up for the books. The swell models were calling for much smaller conditions today, but Huey had other ideas and was dispensing the odd head plus set to keep thing interesting for the crew in the water along the beach. It wasn’t quite as big at the point, but the sizable crew weren’t going without either. There appeared to be quite a wait between sets, and the Bureau is telling us to expect the swell to fade to a metre or so by midday. So, who knows, maybe I happened to get snaps of the last of the bigger stuff. It’s a phenomenon known to every surfer: you rock up at the beach, see a big set and paddle out all stoked, only to gradually realise that it was the last gasp of the swell.

As of 0810, swell was averaging 1.3m at a grunty 15 seconds apart from 164° (S by SSE). Weather should be sunny all day as we head to a taste of summer high of 27C.

Wondering about the surf prospects for the weekend and beyond? Well, you old hands know the drill, it’s Friday, so that means the Goat’s dropped his pearls of surf wisdom overnight.

Enjoy your Friday, and stay safe everyone!
