The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Friday 17 September 2021: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

OOPS! That’s all TG could say when I asked him what’s going on… no Thursday surf forecast ??!!

Then he rattled off excuses like:

“I was busy, a friend just came into town, I was out of town, the cat ate my homework, I forgot, and

(the now standard excuse for anything)

it was delayed because of Covid!!”…

Sigh …

Fab conditions today>> beaut weather and surf with some size and shape earlier…

The Noreaster knocked the shape about, and the wind’s been picking up later today, Friday, impacting the size.

The outlook is for some variety in both weather and surf for the week ahead, but there should be some fun surf on some days if you look for it.

Saturday: eased back from Friday, but there should be some waves from the North East as a result of the wind.. could be in the 1-2 metre range initially then getting hit by a westerly

Sunday: gone down, going down in the 1-2 metre range Eastish

Monday: around 1 metre or so North East

Tuesday: starting to come up from the South, with the wind… could even be a messy 2-3 metres at dead South spots

Wednesday: going downwards through the day to the 1-2  metre range dead South spots

Thursday: could still be a bit in the 1-2 metre rnage from the South, pushing into a N/Noreaster till that wins the wind/wave battle

Friday: say 1 metre or less North East/ North West.

The red and yellow and buffer zone flags go up this weekend. If you’re on a board, give the average swimmers a break and stay outside the buffer zones.  If you’re a swimmer thinking of taking a plunge this weekend, watch out for leftover strong rips and cold water, especially relative to the air temp… a nasty combination if you’re not really fit.  Still really need a wetsuit for comfort.

Stay safe.
